Kerala PSC Staff Nurse vacancy 2020 details

Staff Nurse or Nursing Officer is the title used to designate the vacancies in the nursing sector. Kerala Government takes nurses to Grade-II roles in the health department cadres, namely DHS and DME. Medical colleges and teaching institutions come under the Directorate of Medical Education (DME). In contrast, the Directorate of Health Services (DHS) handles all other hospitals from primary health centers to GH.

Kerala PSC conducts separate exams for DME and DHS Staff Nurse vacancies. Now the latest recruitment we have in 2020 is to DHS. The rank list for the Kerala PSC Staff Nurse exam 2020 for DHS comes into effect in the second half of 2021. We expect nearly 500-1200 nursing vacancies in the DHS rank link during its three-year validity.

Last time Kerala PSC didn’t conduct interviews for Staff Nurse recruitment because of the urgent requirement of employees in DHS and DME. Those who topped the rank list got an advice memo after the verification. If they follow that pattern, the rank list for the upcoming exam may come out soon, maybe in 2020 itself.

Staff Nurse Salary and Promotion in Kerala

However, like any employee, a Kerala Govt. Staff Nurse should contribute at least 10% of Basic+DA to the NPS scheme, which is around 3000 INR. Hence, the in-hand salary for the newly selected PSC Staff Nurse in DHS would be around 27000. DME nurses may get extra allowances in accordance with their duty pattern.

When it comes to the promotions, Staff Nurses have the scope to move from Grade II to ward supervisor, Head Nurse, Nursing Superintendent scales, on the basis of their eligibility and service time. Promotion depends on the vacancies, but grade pay is always there. Yearly increment and medical benefits are also applicable.
